The Syakaro Historic Trail in Hsinchu County, parts of which have been closed for more than ten years, was recently reopened, allowing hikers to once again travel this storied path. One of its most beautiful sights is the Baishi suspension bridge over the Sakayajin River. After plucking up the courage to venture onto the bridge, as you look down into the river valley or survey the mountain peaks, you seem to hear echoes of the Atayal indigenous people calling out to the spirits of their ancestors.
